Josh Duhamel Kick Off Plane
Actor Josh Duhamel has been booted off an air plane. The Transformers actor was onboard a flight from New York's LaGuardia Airport bound for Kentucky when he refused to turn off his Blackberry before takeoff. The 38-year-old actor was asked three times by a flight attendant to switch off the electronic device. The actor was then escorted off the plane by “two officers.” According to an eyewitness Duhamel was "very rude" and was seen “taunting the attendant.” A rep for Duhamel said the actor was trying to send a text message about his flight being delayed. Duhamel is “sorry” for causing the fracas. [TMZ]
No One Cares That Kim Kardashian is Dead
A celebrity led stunt to quit social networks to raise money for charity has backfired. Kim Kardashian, along with fellow celebrities Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Lenny Kravitz, Usher, Serena Williams, Jennifer Hudson and Ryan Seacrest all agreed to “digitally die” to raise money for the Keep a Child Alive AIDS charity. The celebrities promised to shut down their Twitter and Facebook accounts until $1 million dollars was raised. Most of the celebrities thought the money would be raised in a single day, however donations have been scant. To date only $183, 865 has been raised. This is pathetic considering the collective of celebrities have a combined total of 29 million friends and followers. To donate and help these celebs with a digital resurrection visit BuyLife.org. Two German computer hackers apparently stole songs from Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, and Ke$ha, selling them online and actually forcing the release of a bunch of new singles in advance of their initial release. An 18-year-old student from Duisburg and his alleged accomplice are under investigation for using a Trojan Horse to hack into the artists' computers for around 12 months before being discovered. The Associated Press is reporting that the two earned more than $13,240 in illegal sales off of tracks. There was no comment on any of the specific songs that were stolen. These dudes really need to work on their music taste. [The Telegraph]
England Doesn’t Want Your Stupid World Cup Anways
Hours after FIFA announced that the mighty (and bribe happy) nations of Russiaand Qatar would receive the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, England decided to tell anyone who would listen that it didn’t want to host the event in the first place. “FIFA are rotten to the core! I feel like a shower after this crawling, venal game... we're better off out of it,” The Daily Mail said in its headline. It’s nice to see an entire country taking the seven-year-old girl approach to rejection. [Daily Mail]
New York Yankees Whip it Out and Show Everyone the Size of their Wallet
The New York Yankees didn’t wait long to throw around the GDP of a small country in the offseason. The New York Daily News claims “according to a source familiar with the negotiations between the Yankees and future Hall of Fame closer Mariano Rivera, the 41-year-old will sign a two-year deal believed to be worth $30 million by Friday night.” That may work out to roughly a $500,000 per inning pitched.
