Blood on the Sand: Comanche vs. Mongol

by MariShapiro   July 20, 2010 at 2:32PM  |  Views: 375

The Mongols not only fought ferociously, but their innovations on and off the battlefield secured them a place in history. As unstoppable as the Mongol army was, their empire was surprisingly modern and efficient - in rather than just leaving sheer devastation in their wake, the Mongols left behind a legacy that included open trade, freedom of religion, and the rule of law.

Our Comanches can't boast of having built an empire of the same grandeur as our Mongols, but they too earned a fearsome reputation as some of the best horsemen and warriors on the North American continent. The Comancheria never matched the scale the Golden Horde or many other khanates, but bow-to-bow and toe-to-toe our Comanches are a solid match against our Mongols. One of our experts, Jay Red Hawk, is one of the last people on earth to have successfully hunted buffalo from horseback with a lance. Not too shabby when you consider that Genghis himself likely died during a boar hunt late in his career.

Well that's all for now, and that's it for me. It's been a hell of a ride, and I want to thank you for every minute of it. As always, you can find Geoff, the Doc, and yours truly hanging around on twitter, and we've all got different non-DW projects we're keeping busy with. Geoff's still got some shirts on his site, if you're interested, the Dr. Dorian's got his line of beverages, and I'm busy rocking out with the excellent dudes at Giant Sparrow (p.s. we're hiring...).

Until next time, morituri te salutant...
