Jessica Alba is a Little Focker
Sexy actress Jessica Alba is joining the ranks of the Fockers in the next installment of the Meet the Parents franchise, Little Fockers. She is apparently going to play a pharmaceutical representative who throws a wrench in the gears of Focker family happiness. But can she hang with Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro?
The Risky Biz blog reports that:
The picture is expect to pick up where 2004's Meet the Fockers left off, with Stiller's Gaylord Focker and Teri Polo's Pamela Byrnes having a child (or children -- reports abound that they could be having twins). ...Even if Alba's role isn't huge -- and with so many other big actors (Stiller, De Niro, Wilson) already set, it may not be -- the move is a shrewd bit of casting for Universal. The franchise needs to rope in young men...
It will be interesting to see whether the introduction of Jessica Alba into the franchise can inspire young men to shell out 10 bucks or so to see the film. It's a pretty family-friendly series of movies, but this could be a sign that they're about to get a lot raunchier. Then again, when was the last time we saw Alba in anything terribly raunchy?
Paul Weitz, who just directed the second movie in the Twilight Saga, is going to also helm this. But let's not forget where he cut his teeth. This is the man who directed American Pie, so the man knows how to get dirty when it's called for.
This film could be a flub just as easily as it could be a feather in the hats of several of the actors involved. Goodness knows De Niro doesn't seem to pick winners very often these days. But Stiller's career is as strong as ever, so maybe he can bring everyone else on the project up with him.
As long as Alba does what she does best, how bad could this movie be? She prances about in bikinis best. Did I really have to say it?
