Only an actor as gifted as Alec Baldwin could make a television executive likable, seem equally at home in screwball comedies and intense dramas, and be the man Lorne Michaels trusts with the highest comedy office in the land. And his watch cost more than your car. On June 25th, New York's famed Apollo Theater will host a gathering of friends and colleagues paying tribute to Alec Baldwin. Spike gathers fellow heavy hitters in the entertainment industry to honor him in a unique black-tie affair that's part "This Is Your Life" and part Dean Martin Roast - "One Night Only: Alec Baldwin".
"Alec is an original and one of the greats. Heroic, complicated, legendary, brilliant and hilarious," said Casey Patterson, Executive Producer. "When we spoke about this event he said 'you overestimate the number of friends I have' and I replied 'you underestimate the number of people that will line up to have fun at your expense.' It will be that kind of night, love and laughs."
"I am dreading this. I am truly dreading this. But if Tracy Morgan is coming, it'll be okay. Is Tracy coming?" said Alec Baldwin.
Baldwin's career has crossed genres: from his turn as executive Jack Donaghy on "30 Rock" and holding the record for most hosting gigs on "Saturday Night Live" (17), to leading roles in "Mission Impossible - Rogue Nation," "The Aviator," "The Hunt For Red October," and "The Departed," he is truly a versatile talent. Spike's "One Night Only: Alec Baldwin" will bring together the celebrated star's friends and co-stars to lovingly roast and share stories about the life and career of a great actor and a quintessential New Yorker.
"One Night Only: Alec Baldwin" will make its way into homes on Spike July 9th at 9/8c.
