Afluence.org is a social networking sites with all the familiar bits and pieces: messaging, friending, and some kind of poking. What sets it aside, though, is that to be considered for membership you must have a net worth of $3 million and rake in at least $300,000 annually.
Apparently the economic downturn hasn't spread to every economic niche. Only one out of every 40 members is accepted, but that equates to about 500 people a day, and it's reported that those numbers are growing. Applicants must submit financial documents proving their worth and undergo a public records check to verify their identities.
Captains of industry and business moguls abound, obviously, on the list of 20,000-plus members. Including but not limited to the founder of Rolling Stone, Jann Wenner, making Affluence.org a gold digger's guide to point-and-click, green-and-gold romance.
