Could the CES Smartphone Wars Be Heating Up With LG and Intel Entering the Fray?

As we close in to the opening days of the Consumer Electronics Show, rumors are flying through the air like so much cold spaghetti in a college commons' food fight.

One of the biggest rumors to circulate around the show floor is that two new competitors might be entering the never-ending battle for the smartest smartphone.

Intel and LG may be prepping for this year's show with their own Intel-based Android phone. Neither have confirmed the rumors, despite the fact that one of Intel's chief executive from Korea confirmed the information for the Korean Times. It's not likely to surpass any of the current phones on the marketing, particularly the domineering iPhone, but it does show that Apple could face some serious competition down the road now that smartphones are officially becomes more powerful and proliferated across store shelves in the years to come.

With all the new electronics and gadgets CES 2012 in Las Vegas is going to be absolutely phenomenal. Best part? As the official broadcaster of the entire event, SPIKE is going to give viewers at home an All Access pass to see what goes behind the closed doors of CES 2012: exclusives, celebrities, special guests, and surprises that you won't find anywhere else - and it all starts on January 10.
