Race a Real F1 Racer This Labor Day With Gran Turismo 5

So, got any plans for Labor Day? Are you dusting off the backyard grill for another round of your patented harred-on-the-outside and raw-on-the-inside hamburgers? Instead of risking food poisoning to celebrate the industrious spirit of the American workforce, how about something with a bit more adventure and a lot less vomiting?

Formula 1 Championship racer David Coulthard has laid down one of the coolest racing challenges that anyone can participate in, regardless of driving ability, location, or means of transportation. The racer will run a full 10 laps on a real live track in an undisclosed location in a Mercedes-Benz AMG SLS "Gullwing." At the same time, he'll be racing against 24 random competitors who will run their own laps in the same vehicle and on the same track, except their's will take place on Gran Turismo 5. The grand prize is a free trip to the Brazilian Grand Prix.

And if this sounds just like it's just above a go kart race for the gamers, think again. Not only will they actually be racing an F1 legend, but the gamers will be judged on their precision driving skills and served penalties for cutting corners in their race to be the first across the pixelated white line. Coulthard will also be able to hear his competitors' locations through a radio announcer watching the race for him while he's behind the wheel.
