A Korean man has made the ultimate commitment to his pillow by marrying it in a formal ceremony.
Lee Jin-gyu fell in love with his “dakimkura,” a large, huggable pillow that is popular in Japan and usually features the image of an anime character. Lee’s pillow/new wife features the image of Fate Testarossa, a character from the anime series Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha.
The 28-year-old was dressed in a formal tuxedo and said “I do” to his beloved pillow in a service conducted by a local priest in front of family and friends. His “bride” wore a traditional wedding dress and was typically quiet throughout the ceremony. When it came time to kiss the bride, Lee lunged with passion.
A friend of Lee’s told the local newspaper, “'He is completely obsessed with this pillow and takes it everywhere. They go out to the park or the funfair where it will go on all the rides with him. Then when he goes out to eat he takes it with him and it gets its own seat and its own meal.” Sounds like this is a marriage that’s going to last.
It is unknown where the newlyweds are honeymooning.
