Go Silent with IAVA this Memorial Day

May 23, 2012

This Memorial Day, our friends at the Iraq & Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) are launching a powerful new campaign to honor the fallen.

About the "Go Silent" campaign:
"For most Americans, Memorial Day is about cooking burgers or hanging out at the beach. For the military and veteran community, it's a day to remember the brothers and sisters we've lost. This year, we're working to ensure that every American remembers the true meaning of Memorial Day through our "Go Silent" campaign. We're asking everyone to pledge a moment of silence on Memorial Day at 12:01pm ET, coinciding with the wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. We invite those who sign our online petition to imagine people at BBQs and other social gatherings across the country going silent simultaneously, creating a simple but powerful, unified expression of remembrance."
