Oscar is Here

It's that time of year again, when famous people wield a sleek little man covered in gold, shiny goodness. This gold little man's name is Oscar, and Oscar is sometimes the only little man who can bring a smile to the face of overprivileged celebrities who already have everything. So who has Oscar nominated to potentially validate this year, and who has Oscar ignored?

In the top categories some major contenders were ignored. The Wrestler got snubbed for: Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay nominations. Ouch! This film was arguably one of the top three of the year, but all it got was a measly (if well deserved) nomination for Best Actor for Mickey Rourke.

The surprise nominations were Kate Winslet for Best Actress, Best Director and Best Picture for The Reader. Wall-E got the ol' snub for Best Picture, and was instead relegated to a nomination for Best Animated Film, and The Dark Knight was also excluded from this category. A lot of people will be upset about those two films not making the grade.

Take a look at the complete list of Oscar nominations at the offical website.
