Eli Manning Makes it Slightly More Difficult to Hate Him

February 24, 2010

Peyton Manning’s little brother ranks somewhere between mildew and Chris Kattan on the American likeability scale. His goofy smile and probable virginity make him an easy target. It’s just a shame that he had to go ruin it all by helping save sick children.

According to a report in the New York Post, Eli Manning has refused to accept $500,000 from a local hospital as part of an agreement for appearing in several advertisements.

Manning claims the folks at St. Vincent’s in New York need the money more than he does after some difficult financial times and he's more than happy to do his part.

Though it likely doesn’t quite have the ring of a “Randy Moss Encourages You to Get Your Heart Checked” or “Charles Rodgers Just Says No to Getting Hammered at a Mexican Restaurant” public service announcements, I’m sure Manning’s endorsements have helped a worthy cause.

If only being a little lighter in the wallet could help him get a little quicker on the field.
