Giving Up is a Lot More Fun Than Trying Hard
In soccer, goalies are expected to save penalty kicks. Nowhere in their job description does it say “please ensure that after you make the stop the ball doesn’t bounce 50 feet in the air, come down and trickle past the goal line.” You’d have to pay time and a half for that kind of effort.
It’s presumable to think that when the goalie of this anonymous (and possibly foreign) soccer team negotiated his contract he had that exact sentiment in mind. Otherwise he’s just a lazy sack of useless who gets caught celebrating seven seconds too early.
