Natalie Portman vs. The Zombies

Natalie Portman has decided to take on one of the great novels in literature, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. She's going to star as Elizabeth Bennet, but this time she's got more than just Mr. Darcy to contend with.

Variety reports about the movie:

Described as an expanded version of the Austen classic, the book tells the timeless story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers. Portman will play feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy.

It's pretty cool to see that Portman doesn't take her career so seriously that she's not willing to do a less serious role every now and then -- which isn't to say that starring in a zombie movie isn't serious.

This film seems like it will have a built-in fanbase, too: you've got all the guys who love zombie movies, and then all the girls who go crazy at the mere mention of the movie Pride and Prejudice. How can this one possibly go wrong?

Well, I suppose it could go wrong if neither young men or young women identified with or were interested in anything in the film, but when you've got Portman headlining, it seems like a pretty safe bet.
