The Best Cheerleading Scandals

Cheerleader scandals are about as common as political ones, but way more fun. Nothing captures the attention of the American public like cheerleaders gone wild. The Frisky looks back at eight recent cheerleading scandals, including the attempted assassination of a cheerleader, a lesbian cheerleader love affair that turned violent, and numerous scandals involving nakedness and improper behavior. Gooooooooo, cheerleaders! [The Frisky]

Hot Romanian First Daughter Running For Office

The hot daughter of Romanian President, Traian Basescu, is seeking a seat in the European Parliament. Elena Basecu, who has been likened to a Barbie doll, is more familiar with prancing down catwalks, going clubbing and posing for photographs than debating policy in a parliament. Romanians are nonetheless riveted by the 28-year-old socialite’s foray into politics. The political establishment is not so impressed. There is speculation that she will withdraw after a good long chat with her daddy. [AP]

The World’s Greatest Diamond Thief

This diamond thief is kind of like the guys in Ocean’s 11 all rolled into one.  After six years in jail (he wasn’t in for longer because the police still don’t know if or how he committed the world’s biggest heist), he has decided to offer an exclusive interview to Wired. []

10 of the Bustiest Female Athletes in the World

Women’s sports are great.  There’s no need for the instant replay because it’s like watching men’s sports played on a field or court made of Play-Doh.  They’re slow and beautiful, so obviously, it’s important for them to have gigantic racks.  Uncoached realizes this, and has brought us a delightfully rounded-out list of 10 female athletes with enormous chesticles. Enjoy. [Uncoached]

Jay-Z Believes Hip-Hop Has Improved Race Relations

Jay-Z has given hip-hop its praises for improving race relations across America because the genre has helped white kids who idolize him and other rappers not become racists. The rapper recently insisted that hip-hop “has changed America immensely” and “has done more than any leader, politician, or anyone to improve race relations.” He went on to say that “racism is taught in the home” and “it's very hard to teach racism to a teenager who idolizes, say, Snoop Dogg.” []

Jack White Unveils a New Supergroup

Last evening, musical machine Jack White opened a physical location in Nashville, Tennessee for his Third Man Records label and also debuted his new supergroup called The Dead Weather. This guy never sleeps. The group also consists of The Kills' Alison Mosshart, Raconteur Jack Lawrence on bass, and Queens Of The Stone Age's Dean Fertita's on guitar. Their new LP is entitled Horehound and is set to be released sometime in June. Hit the band’s new website and take a listen to their amazing new single “Hang You From the Heavens” and their b-side cover of Gary Numan's "Are Friends Electric?". [The Dead Weather]

Lesbian Attempts to Force Semen into Her Wife

Domestic assault comes in every flavor, it turns out, in this case of two girls/one turkey baster.  Stephanie Lighten, 26, allegedly came home “all liquored up” with a container of her brother’s semen covered in aluminum foil. With us so far? Good.  She then informed her 33-year-old wife it was baby-making time, but her wife disagreed.  That’s when Stephanie pushed her onto the couch and tried to rip off her clothes.  A bathroom door was busted down, a miniature car chase ensued, and all sorts of other weird stuff. Joe Wright is Going to Have an Indian Summer

Director Joe Wright (Pride and Prejudice, Atonement) has set up his next feature with Universal and Working Title. He’s going to adapt the book Indian Summer by Alex von Tunzelmann about the end of the British empire’s rule in India. William Nicholson, the writer of Gladiator, is writing the script, and Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, and Hilary Bevan Jones are producing. So far no stars have been lined up. Wright’s next feature, The Soloist, is set for release on April 24. It will be interesting to see how its success (or lack thereof) will affect his next movie. [Variety]
