Stooges, Metallica, Run-D.M.C. Up For Rock Hall Induction

bydsussman   September 22, 2008 at 3:00PM  |  Views:  |  Comment

Run-D.M.C., Metallica and The Stooges lead the list of nine acts up for induction next year into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Five of these nine will make it in next year and the official inductees will be announced in January.

Up for nomination this time around are the Stooges, Metallica, Run-D.M.C., War, Wanda Jackson, Bobby Womack, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Chic, and Jeff Beck. Acts are not eligible for the Rock Hall until at least 25 years have passed since the release of their first single. I didn’t know Metallica was that old?

The 2009 ceremony will be open to the public for the first time and will held on April 4 ceremony at Cleveland's Public Hall.

I really do love (early) Metallica, but if these fools get into the Hall this early I’m gonna puke. James, Lars and Kirk are far too young to beat out artists like Jeff Beck and Bobby Womack. Retirement should not be out of the question though.
