The Olympics are all about unity, competition, togetherness, and massive revenue losses for NBC and their dedication to mediocre coverage. What they are not about, however, is letting athlete’s express themselves with inspirational beer slogans.
American hockey goalie Ryan Miller found that out first hand when the Olympic Gestapo informed him that the creative (and in no way horribly lame) phrase “Miller Time” on the back of his helmet violated the spirit of the games – which, apparently involves corporate sponsorship.
Miller will be forced to cover the slogan with tape throughout the rest of the Olympics and discouraged from drinking non-Olympic approved beer.
