Iron Man 2 destroyed everything in its path this weekend, earning quite an impressive figure at the box office. How does it stack up to other huge opening days? Check it out after the jump.
Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Paramount, Iron Man 2 fell short of the $158 million opening-weekend record held by The Dark Knight, but still hit the mark for the fifth-highest three-day opening in movie history.
Nightmare on Elm Street got creamed pretty hard by the competition and dropped off 72 percent from its opening weekend to $9.2 million. The last three box office spots went to How to Train Your Dragon, Date Night, and The Back-Up Plan. Did I also mention that IM2 pulled in $35 million more in its opening weekend than the first Iron Man did? Comic books rule the world, y’all.
