Prince Sings for the Minnesota Vikings (And it's Creepier Than You'd Think)

January 22, 2010

Anybody thinking about betting against the Minnesota Vikings in this weekend’s NFC Championship game may want to think again. Despite the Saints' home field advantage and superior offense, they're lacking one very important thing – a fight song written by a sexually ambiguous pop star.

Prince, who resides in Minneapolis and attended last week’s thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys, wrote an unintentionally hilarious tune to help fire up the troops with quality lyrics that clearly took at least 17 minutes and help from a special needs third grade class to scribe.

Take a listen:

We come in the name of the purple and gold
All of the odds are in our favor
No prediction too bold
We are the truth if the truth can be told
Long reign the purple and gold

But wait, there’s more.

The song is set to a futuristic melody that sounds more like something you’d hear after Jared Allen completes the final level of Zelda. Prince dubbed this style "the future of music."
