Fighters and fans stepped away from the action at the UFC Fan Expoand lined up around the block to watch Aaron Riley drop trou at the UFC 114 weigh-ins today and, Kyle Noke swung by with Roy Nelson to talk about the fan expo, Rashad vs. Rampage, and Liddell vs. Ortiz Franklin.
It’s been built up for nearly a year and Rampage Jackson’s epic feud with Rashad Evans will finally come to blows Saturday night live on Pay-Per-View. The two had icy stares for each other as they made their way off the scales, but managed to remain relatively civilized for the hundreds that gathered to watch. That is, of course, until the cage door locks tomorrow night. Head to UFC.com for the full, official results.
We're less than 24 hours away from the fights and while Rampage and Rashad are each certain they'll walk away the winner, the rest of the world isn't quite so sure. Kyle Noke of TUF 11, for example, is placing his bets on Rashad.
"Well, I have to say Rashad. I train with him, but even if I didn't I would say he would win." Noke says Rashad will be showing up with better conditioning and he says outworking Rampage will be the key to winning the fight.
TUF 10 winner Roy Nelsonis taking a more objective viewpoint, noting, "Whoever wins in takedowns will win the fight. Rashad is a smarter fighter but Rampage has more of a warrior's spirit." Well, there's no way to tell for sure, but soon enough one man will stand with hand raised while the other chokes on his own words and heads back to gym.
Back to some less intense issues, we took the chance to chat with Noke about the UFC Fan Expo, where he's taking advantage of getting to know the MMA fans that come from around the world to soak up the sport.
"It's awesome, there's a lot of people here. It makes [the sport] a lot more accessible to fans. They get a chance to know the fighters."
"I want to see Chuck vs. Tito, but I think Chuck's going to win that." Guess we'll just have to wait and see. But we don't have to wait long for UFC 114. Make sure to catch the prelims live on Spike, Saturday at 9P/8C.
