An all-girl band plays in nothing but their underthings, exciting new rumors about Ghostbusters 3, and the 10 greatest nose-picking moments in sports...it's the Mantenna!
Terminally Ill Reality TV Star Weds
A 27-year-old female British reality TV star, who is dying of cancer, has wed on British television. Jade Goody rose to fame in 2002 by appearing on Britain’s version of Big Brother. In early 2007 she appeared on a celebrity version of the show and was later ejected for making racist remarks. Goody has made international headlines after agreeing to appear in a reality television show documenting her battle with terminal cancer. She has said she hopes to make as much money as possible before she dies to support her two young children. [Daily Mail]
All-Girl Bra Band
The Vassarettes is a girl pop group made up of four hot women who rock out in bras. The band was manufactured by Vanity Fair, Inc. as a way to market their new line of Vassarette bras. The girls have a single, “Are You Ready”, which is fairly bland and pretty forgettable. At least they look hot. Next time they should try the whole band thing without the bras. [Asylum.com]
Video Game Tech Used in Disaster Planning
Mike Geertsen, a longtime veteran of Microsoft’s games unit, has turned his skill set’s crosshairs to an altogether less entertaining field: disaster planning. He used elements from video game user interfaces such as Flight Simulator and Train Sims (which he was a producer on) to inspire his new software, Depiction. It allows emergency workers to plan escape routes and ways to deliver medical supplies. He also used it to save his current Labrador puppy during Katrina. [Wired]
The 10 Greatest Nose-Picking Moments in Sports
Manofest has mushed together a top 10 list of the best nose-picking moments in sports, and we’re here to wipe it on the underside of your brain. What was surprising about this list is that these guys aren’t just getting rid of a little extra phlegm – grease from the gears of a finely-tuned athlete. A lot of these gents are (wait for it) booger eaters. [Manofest]
Who You Gonna Call?
Source: Columbia Pictures
It’s been awhile since anyone’s heard anything about the mythical Ghostbusters 3 film supposedly in some form of development. The guys writing the script, Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitski of The Office, have apparently been talking about when they think shooting will begin. Straight from the horse’s mouth, Dan Aykroyd is quoted as saying this past weekend that the filmmakers “hope to be in production by late fall 2009.” Sounds good to us! By the time the movie eventually comes out we’ll all just be starting to get bored with the video game. If Ghostbusters 3 turns out to be just a lot of rumors this time, get ready for a lot of angry young men to storm the streets. At that point you’ll just have to call the police. [/Film]
Court Rules Jackson Browne Lawsuit Against John McCain Can Proceed
The U.S. District Court for the Central District of California has denied the motions of Senator John McCain and the Republican National Committee to stop the lawsuit filed by singer/songwriter Jackson Browne for the unauthorized use of Browne's voice and song "Running On Empty" in their presidential campaign commercial. This a big legal victory for Browne who filed his suit in August for copyright infringement and violation of his right of publicity. Browne's attorney, Lawrence Iser, said that "The Court's decision is a solid victory for songwriters and performers and reflects an affirmation of their intellectual property rights and their freedom from being conscripted as involuntary endorsers of political candidates and campaign messages." Children’s Motorcycles and ATVs Now Banned In The U.S.
Looks like the fun police have struck again: Effective February 10th, 2009, any and all children’s motorcycles and ATVs are now illegal in the land of the free and the home of the frightened. Thanks to the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, off-road motorcycles and ATVs intended for anyone 12 years old and under are now illegal, because their batteries contain lead and apparently, children love to eat motorcycle batteries. So it looks like little Billy will be learning to ride on a Ducati 996 next year! [About.com]
