Is Apple Looking to Take a Bite Out of the TV Market?

June 22, 2011

Not content with dominating the portable music, cell phone, computer, and the nerdy slacker worlds, Apple has announced a new lineup in its soon to be long line of electronic products.

The company now wants to tackle the world of TV by launching its own brand of living room display consoles, according to a blog who quoted an anonymous former company executive. The plan is to create a television that fully integrates Apple's existing media delivery products such as AppleTV and iTunes to "blow Netflix and all those other guys away."

Of course, this isn't the first time rumors have floated to the surface about Apple's intention to get into the TV game. And their AppleTV device hasn't exactly flourished since it hit the market compared to the iPod, the iPad, and the iPhone. If they did decide to step into the fray, it would make the interactive TV wars with Google into a full-fledged World War.
