Natalie Portman Hits the Road for a Stoner Comedy

February 22, 2010

Natalie Portman is one of those movie stars who can step up to a huge blockbuster or do an itsy bitsy indie film, and she's not afraid to take risks. Portman is now going to take on the stoner comedy, titled Best Buds (not a remake of the Cheech and Chong movie) about two women on a road trip filled with weed. This could be pretty cool.

Pajiba tells us that the comedy is going to be along the lines of the Harold and Kumar movies:

The independently financed comedy is said to be in the vein of Harold and Kumar and Half-Baked and will center on two best female friends who take a road trip to their friend’s wedding in order to save her by bringing her weed. According to our source, The Hollywood Cog, the script comes from actress Jamie Denbo, who is probably best known for writing and starring in a popular Showtime pilot, Ronna & Beverly...

It seems like there's nothing Portman isn't down to try. She's also about to be in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, as well as Hesher, an independent film with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

This might just be what the stoner comedy/road trip movie needs: a direct infusion of Natalie Portman. She's got so many projects coming up it's hard to know what to look forward to most.

One thing's for sure: if you were sick and tired of staring at Harold and Kumar when you were in the mood for a stoner flick, you can rest assured Portman will be a lot easier on the eyes.
