Tim Robbins Joins Green Lantern

bynathanbloch   February 09, 2010 at 3:26PM  |  Views:  |  Comment

Tim Robbins is the newest addition to the cast of Green Lantern, one of Warner Bros.' more promising comic book movies that's in the works. He's going to play Senator Hammond, the father of the villain, Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard).

The Hollywood Reporter has the details:

Robbins will play Senator Hammond, the disapproving father of the movie's villain, Dr. Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard), who becomes infused with psychic powers.

Ryan Reynolds stars as Green Lantern, with Blake Lively as the hero's love interest, Carol Ferris.

This is a really solid addition to the cast, and it lends the film some thespian weight. Between Robbins and Sarsgaard, the cast of this film might just outweight the potentially obnoxious presence of Reynolds. Whose idea was it to give him a comic book franchise again?
